Rafting Through History
The raft was invented in the early 1840s by Lt. John Fremont and Horace H. Day of the US Army for the purpose of surveying the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains in the US; and although it had been invented then, the first commercial whitewater trip would not take place until the turn of the century. Whitewater rafting would become one of the earliest methods of transporting people and goods from one place to another amidst a large land mass; most of it would be done using surplus military rafts as rubber rafts were not invented until later.
Get to Know the Assi River - Crazy Rafting Club
Once the primary river of the Levant region, this long and winding waterway’s source is in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon and winds down through Syria and Turkey. What makes this river so special is that, unlike all the other rivers in the region, the water flows from the south and makes its way up north. Because of this unique trait, people in the region changed its name from ‘Axius’ to ‘Assi’ which means ‘rebel’; the river has also been called Draco, Typhon, and now is also known as the Orontes River.
Get to know Lebanon and this name-changing river even better by joining in on a camping and water adventure with Rafting Club.
If you love adventure and want to do something special for your next vacation, then perhaps a Rafting Trip would be a good idea.

Whitewater kayaking is the sport of paddling a kayak on a moving body of water, typically a river. Whitewater kayaking can range from a fun, carefree, splashy-splash float trip to a challenging, adrenaline-filled sport. Rivers are classified by difficulty into an International Scale of River Difficulty, ranging from Class/Grade I--a flat, slightly moving river--to Class/Grade VI, considered the limit of possibility. For most kayakers there is a significant difference in challenge between Class/Grade III (Moderate) and Class/Grade IV (Advanced).
